The Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College &
Hospital, popularly known as M.K.C.G. Medical College and
Hospital, is a Government Medical College set up by the
Government of Odisha under Health & Family Welfare
Department and is a pioneer medical institute in Eastern
India in medical teaching, training, research and patient
care. It has been named after the Late Maharaja of
Parlakhemundi, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati. This
being the only major medical institution in Southern
Odisha, apart from imparting medical education it also
serves as a referral hospital for providing multispecialty
tertiary patient care in this part of the country. It is
located in the city of Berhampur with a sprawling campus.
This medical college has the largest campus of all three
government medical colleges in Odisha. It has been
recognized by MCI (Medical Council of India) as an
institution facilitating M.B.B.S education and training in
Post Graduation specialty subjects (M.D/M.S) in medical
and surgical disciplines. Admission to this college in
MBBS and other courses available is extremely competitive
and strictly on the basis of merit only.
